Day 1:KAMNIK - LJUBLJANA

  • Welcome of the group at Ljubljana airport and transfer to Kamnik, one of the loveliest old towns in Slovenia, surrounded by Kamnik Alps;
  • First we stroll through medieval streets and then we drive to the Budnar’s house, unique living museum, where we learn how to bake a bread in a traditional Slovenian way;
  • We continue to Velika Planina, where we take cable car to this beautiful grassland plateau, where are more than 50 unique shepherds cottages;
  • We have typical snack: sour milk and hard-boiled corn mush and after descend we can try one of many types of brandy;
  • We continue to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia;
  • Hotel HB or BB & Restaurant dinner.

Day 2: LJUBLJANA – ŠKOFJA LOKA – LJUBLJANA

  • After breakfast visit of Ljubljana and getting to know the unique character of "Stara Ljubljana" (Ljubljana Old Town), where distinct Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture combines with masterly creations by the 20th century architect Jože Plečnik;
  • During the walking tour main sights will be visited: the Cathedral of St. Nicolai, the Three bridges, Ljubljanica river and funicular ride up to the Castle for a beautiful view of the city centre;
  • free time for lunch or souvenir shopping in Ljubljana;
  • We drive to Škofja Loka, the most preserved medieval town from 15 century;
  • We visit the castle, old city centre and we learn, how the Slovenian lace is made;
  • We have typical regional dinner in the oldest house of Škofja Loka;
  • Return to Ljubljana, hotel HB or BB & Restaurant dinner.

Day 3: LJUBLJANA – BLED – BLED’S VINTGAR – STUDOR – BOHINJ – BLED

  • After breakfast we continue to the heart of Alpine region, between the Julian Alps and Karavanke;
  • We arrive to number 1 Slovenian attraction, wonderful glacial lake Bled with the tiny and romantic island in the middle;
  • First we drive up to the top of the cliff, to medieval castle with amazing view over Bled lake and there we can treat ourselves with famous Bled’s cream cake, called "kremšnita";
  • We take the traditional "pletna" boat ride to Bled island and ring the wishing bell in St. Mary church;
  • In Bled’s vicinity we take a walk in a beautiful Bled’s Vintgar gorge;
  • Free time for lunch or souvenir shopping;
  • On the way to Bohinj we stop at Studor, one of nicest villages where we can see a group of typical drying-sheds called "kozolec";
  • We continue to the largest glacier lake Bohinj, surrounded by high summits of the Julian Alps;
  • In a case of a nice weather, we can take cable-car to Vogel (1537 m) or we continue to waterfall Savica, where Slovenians were christened;
  • Return to Bled, where we can enjoy folklore show during the dinner;

Day 4: BLED – KRANJSKA GORA – PLANICA – BOVEC – GORIŠKA BRDA - NOVA GORICA

  • After breakfast drive to the world known ski resort Kranjska Gora and ski-jumping resort Planica;
  • We drive up the most beautiful panoramic road, up to the Slovenian highest pass Vršič 1611 m, in the heart of the Julian Alps;
  • We continue to Bovec, which is famous for the emerald green Alpine Soča River and Slovenian extreme sport center;
  • After lunch in Bovec, we can go on rafting or we continue directly to Kobarid, to visit very interesting museum of the 1st world war and picturesque waterfall Kozjak, situated in the middle of the cave;
  • We continue to wine region of Goriška Brda, where some of the best Slovenian wines are produced;
  • Wine tasting and typical regional dinner;
  • Drive to Nova Gorica to the hotel.

Day 5: NOVA GORICA – ŠTANJEL – LIPICA – PIRAN – SEČOVLJE – PORTOROŽ

  • After breakfast we start the tour to Kras region, where we make first stop at small stone town of Štanjel, with typical Karst houses and castle up on the hill;
  • Visit of Lipica , well known Stud Farm founded in 1580, home of the white Lipizzaner horses;
  • Visit of the "pršutarna" Lokev and learn about the prosciutto production with tasting, along with typical wine from this region "teran";
  • Drive to the Slovenian coast of the Adriatic sea;
  • Visit of Piran, the oldest and very picturesque Slovenian Mediterranean town, one of preferred locations for film industry (apart from Bled);
  • Visit of Sečovlje Salina Nature Park where is produced about 2000 tons of salt annually and where we learn about producing salt in the traditional manner;
  • We finish the day in popular sea resort Portorož;
  • Hotel HB or BB & Restaurant dinner.

Day 6: PORTOROŽ – PREDJAMA – POSTOJNSKA JAMA –LJUBLJANA – CELJE

  • After breakfast we drive to medieval and fairytale Predjama Castle with dramatic setting and where we learn about the legend of ‘Slovenian Robin Hood’ Erasmus;
  • We continue to Postojna cave, most popular karst cave in the world. Guided tour starts with the ride by electrical train and followed by a walk through beautiful passages and chambers with spectacular drop stones, pillars, limestone curtains and other unforgettable forms;
  • After lunch break we pass Ljubljana and continue to Styria region, to  Celje, the third largest Slovenian town, where we visit the ruins of an old castle, from there we also get the best view over the city;
  • Dinner in nearby local restaurant;
  • Overnight stay in hotel, BB.

Day 7: CELJE – MARIBOR – PTUJ – JERUZALEM – ROGATEC – ROGAŠKA SLATINA– PODČETRTEK

  • After breakfast we drive to Maribor and visit the second biggest town in Slovenia, which has also the oldest wine in the world;
  • We continue to Jeruzalem, picturesque village known for its scenery landscape and one of the most beautiful wine roads in Europe;
  • Next stop is Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia with very rich history and many monuments to prove it;
  • After lunch we continue the tour to Rogatec, where we visit open air museum, which is a cultural monument and the bigest slovene ethnological park with typical rural architecture of the sub-Pannonian region of central Styria;
  • This is also the area of many thermal spas, therefore we will stop at Rogaška Slatina, Slovenian oldest and most famous spa centre with healing thermal water and we visit also the centre where Rogaška Crystal is made;
  • We overnight in one of the spa hotels, HB.

Day 8: PODČETRTEK – BIZELJSKO – OTOČEC – LJUBLJANA

  • After the breakfast we continue the drive in the beautiful hilly countryside to Bizeljsko wine region, where we visit one of the famous Slovenian sparkling wine producers, visit of the wine cellar and the tasting;
  • Next stop will be in completely different wine cellar, over 200 years old ʺrepnicaʺ. The locals started digging in sandstone, where they firstly stored their field products and later they found out, these holes could be used also for storing their wine;
  • Before we start returning to Ljubljana airport, we stop at picturesque Otočec Castle, built on a small island in the middle of the Krka River. The islet is linked to both banks of the river by bridges and the castle has now been converted into a small hotel;
  • We continue to the airport and flight back home.
